WordPress 3.3 is available but not safe for upgrade

    Hey Folks,
    WordPress 3.3 is here !

We do have  many people upgrading to WordPress 3.3, but we do not recommend upgrading to 3.3 as of right now. We have seen some reports of some custom themes breaking, and there is a possible conflict with the W3 Total Cache Plugin. As of right now, WordPress 3.3 is not formally supported by us. Please do not upgrade unless you have done extensive amounts of testing and are prepared to deal with the possible support issues that can crop up. We will announce at a later time (and after a ton of testing) when we will formally support WordPress 3.3 . In the meantime, if you run into a issue and need to be rolled back, please contact support at support@wpengine.com .

    Hello Everyone,

Our NOC provider FireHost has announced emergency maintenance on their system. Here is the information that have provided us:

    Emergency Maintenance: Router Configuration Change

Tuesday, October 18th 2011 12:00 AM CDT (Midnight, 2 hours)

    Maintenance Details:
At this time, we will be performing router configuration maintenance on the primary edge routers at our Richardson, TX facility. This maintenance is to prevent future intermittent connectivity issues as occurred at 11:04 AM CDT on 11/17/2011.

    Maintenance Impact:
The anticipated maintenance window is two (2) hours, and service for your Secure Cloud Servers is not expected to be affected. The scope of any interruptions that occur should be limited to a brief loss of network connectivity while BGP routes reconverge. If this configuration change should be unsuccessful we will immediately roll back the change.

Changes to sitemap plugin coming this tuesday Sep. 27th 2011

    Hi Everyone!

On July 7 2011 we announced that we were making changes to our curated plugin list to no longer include the Google Sitemap XML Generator, and to curate the plugin ‘Better WordPress Google XML Sitemaps‘. We have discussed our reasons why on our blog post regarding this topic.

We are planning to enforce this change starting Tuesday September 27th 2011. In addition to enforcing this change, we do plan to blacklist the Google Sitemap XML Generator due to the fact that it causes some dramatic performances issues for many sites and it can cause issues to the MySQL database. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact the support team.

Downtime this morning Sep 14 2011

    Hello Everyone,

We had some unexpected downtime this morning due to errors with our database but we were able to fix it rather quickly. Some symptoms of the issue are that you may have seen a 503/504 error while logged into the admin and/or the site is running rather slow. The issue should be resolved already but if you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact us at support@wpengine.com

System Stable, but maintenance expected late tonight

    Hello Everyone,

The system has been stable for the past couple hours, but we’re still actively monitoring everything until we are completely comfortable that we are in the clear. The issue was caused by a problem with our load balancing system which we were able to resolve. We do expect to do some late night maintenance, likely around 1am CST. We do not expect downtime.

    Hey Everyone,

To make some improvements to our system we’re making some immediate changes on our system, which may require us to restart a couple pieces of our system. Some of you may experience some errors on your site, if any, but they should be temporary. We apologize for the inconvenience!
